    In January this year, the regulation on the governance of the Energy Union entered into force. Just a few days later, on time, the Ministry of Energy published the draft National Energy and Climate Plan for 2021-2030 (NECP)¸ required by this regulation. This is the second, next to the long-awaited Poland's Energy Policy until 2040, strategic document for the Polish energy industry.

Forum Energii, considering this document as a basis for discussion, prepared an in-depth analysis of the document. We believe that especially now, when the last bell for strategic decisions concerning the future of the Polish energy sector is ringing, it is necessary to speak out.

  • Energy Innovation Hub | Zonal and nodal electricity pricing models - comparison

    On August 30, 2018, Forum Energii organized the second meeting of the Energy Innovation Hub. The guest of the meeting was prof. Lion Hirth from the Hertie School of Governance in Berlin and head of the consulting company NEON, who analyzed the nodal and zonal market models.

  • Energy Innovation Hub | Aurora's outlook for Polish power market

    On July 3, 2018, Forum Energii inaugurated the cycle of meetings called Energy Innovation Hub. During these meetings, we will discuss trends and innovations in the energy sector together with group of experts. The main guests of the first meeting were Dr. Manuel Koehler and Hanns Koenig from Aurora Energy Research. They presented their forecasts for the development of the energy market in Poland after the introduction of the capacity market.

    Forum Energii is leading a project "Clean Heat" that aim is to support the development of a Polish country heating strategy in the context of European 2030 CO2 targets and heavy air pollution. The panel of experts on the June 11, 2018 is an element of this project and was dedicated to transition strategies of the heating sector in Europe.

    Forum Energii within the project "Social and economic impact of selected scenarios of the Energy Production Mix in Poland till the year 2050”, is analysing the costs and benefits associated with the four energy production scenarios. The panel of experts on the April 12, 2017, was organized to discuss the result of the research that will be released in September.

    Improving flexibility is a priority and action that should be taken regardless of decisions on the energy mix. It is important to look at the flexibility from the perspective of the entire value chain, from energy generation sources, through transmission and distribution, energy market, ending with consumers of energy meaning the entire demand side. This is how we perceive the issue of flexibility and this is what was the main topic of the Forum Energii conference that gathered Polish and international experts. It gave the possibility to present and discuss the solutions that support e-flex.

    Energy sector in Europe is changing rapidly. Many countries are updating their energy strategies and the same awaits Poland. The partnership of WysokieNapiecie.pl and Forum Energii held an expert debate dedicated to the British experience in recent years. The special guest of the event was Prof. Michael Grubb from University College London, advisor to the energy regulator - Ofgem.

  • Polish energy in Europe | Modernization challenges

    In August 2015 the Polish power system experienced a capacity shortage - industrial electricity consumers were forced to curtail their electricity consumption. For the first time in 25 years, energy consumers experienced the effects of many years of inattention and lack of system regulations and strategic decisions concerning the direction of development of this sector. As reported by Polish TSO, supplies may be limited again in the years to come and serious capacity deficits may occur after 2020. Achieving a consensus regarding the Polish energy sector and preparing a long-term vision for the development of the sector are priority tasks for the Polish government in the next few months.
