We invited the best international experts to perform the analysis – enervis, advising energy companies in Germany and Europe, expert in European energy market and WiseEurope Institute, which have extensive knowledge about Polish national realities and key data on energy resources.

The motivation to release such research was time a place, where Polish power industry is standing and  facing the necessity of choosing the direction of modernization and transformation. It is especially difficult in that moment, when the sector is influenced by so many factors: the global climate and environmental policy, through alternative energy technologies development, to informatization. The risk connected to decision-making process faced by politicians and companies from the sector is additionally affected by the uncertain availability of national primary energy resources.

Choosing the path of national energy sector’s development will be most likely a compromise between costs, that society is ready to incur and level of energy security, measured by the amount of power reserve and the quality of energy supply. It is vital, that authors of assumptions for the long-term national energy policy should have in mind the full costs and benefits account. They should include not only the needs of their own sector, but the economy in general.
